so i queue up for a ranked game as one does, literally 5 turns into my dealer turn the fag across from me gets an ippatsumo manga (for people who dont know mahjong: this is pretty lucky and sucks because i lose more points than everyone else, but its not game ending)

south 2 comes around and i have a pretty promising haipai (starting hand)
1 dora, pretty easy honitsu (one suit and honor tiles) and a chun pair, so if everything went well i can baseline get a 4 han hand, not game winning but it gives me another dealer turn
my hand slowly but surely starts to fill up but its also looking kind of dire, as lots of the honors i need are starting to get discarded which sucks, but by some fucking miracle i draw the last haku so now i have my pair complete and just need anything else and i can finish this hand, which now has bumped up quite a bit in potential points
THEN i manage to draw a hatsu, which there were only two left, which is great on paper but also pretty fucking dire because theres no more hakus left for me to call and one single hatsu left, so i'm praying i draw another dora so i have a callable triplet
this doesnt exactly pane out but someone drops the 6p, and if i call on that i can manage to get myself into tenpai, but i have only one (1) winning tile left in the game beccause the haku is still dead and hatsu has one left and it could be dead walled, AND cutting the completely live dora is basically and awful decision by any sane metric
but im so far behind i need any kind of miracle so i say fuck it and call that 6p
the 1p somehow passes and immediately after im completely fucking rewarded because my last winning tile possible gets dropped

there's a book about a general guy called Lavalle (originally french La Valle but pronounced in spanish as 1 thing with all the letters) 
so the book is called "the blind condor" and its about this guy who was a general and he started out as a soldier of san martin and then he fought all over up to ecuador, and then he came back to argentina and he fought against brazil as an officer and he was quite important in the victories that ensued

well i've never HAD american pizza, but from pictures you can tell they look different because i think they overcook them or something a lot of the pizzas i see have the cheese that looks like its turned all brown 
like i said there's a bunch of types of pizzas in america so i dont know what all of them are but like i said there's the weird pizza that's not a real pizza (that's a niche) and NY pizza (which i assume is quite popular cause NY is a big influential city and had a bunch of italians) to my understanding is soft 

here pizza's main ingredient is cheese any pizza you find will have a lot of cheese (this is always talking about normal popular pizzas, not if you go to some fancy restaurant where they sell posh trite that's all foreign anyway) 
the toppings can always vary ofc people like different things but commonly a basic cheese pizza will have you know the pizza sauce, the lots of cheese, oregano, and olives. 90% of pizzas have olives on them. a common pizza will be the aforementioned with added ham and some slices of pepper (not spicy) 
there's something like peperoni pizza here but its different becuase it uses a different type of sausage but i can't imagine the taste would be that different

anyway i was originall going to ask how there's 3 types of pizza dough here
there's "a la piedra" which is the one that goes in traditional wood/coal fired stone pizza ovens, its quite thin, and as such it'd be decently crunchy 
there's "media masa" which is well in the middle
and there's "al molde" which would be made inside some sort of uh object and they are thicker and the dough rises a bunch more and as such they are spongier and i guess more bready on the inside. these are sometimes eaten with a knife and fork (especially when they have a lot of toppings) 

in uruguay its a meme that they all eat pizza with knife and fork and the pizzas are square there.

i think we also invented the pizza that's filled with cheese on the inside, even if it was indepdently invented elsewhere later. i dont know how they made/make it in other places but its basically supposed to be one thick pizza with cheese and then another thinner pizza with other stuff on top and uhh i dont know folded together so that they make 1 pizza

anyway what I wanted to say originally is that its quite fascinating how much like there were different waves of settlement/colonization into argentina (one coming from chile and another coming from the north) there were also different waves of liberation during the independence wars 

as we know, the River Plate countries, as well as Chile and Peru were liberated by San Martin & Co, who had pretty different political thoughts and methods from the other current, which was Bolivar & Co, who liberated Colombia, Venezuela, and Bolivia 

when the independence movements started up in the river plate (and as it spread via the andes army), the way the war was fought was a lot more uhhh cordial, and thinking more of obtaining independence but keeping some sort of connection with spain, and getting some european(preferably bourbon) noble to govern as constitutional kings. it also helped that the spaniards never managed to "beat back" the revolution and re-occupy the country, so there wasn't as much damage from the war neither was there such a bad sentiment
meanwhile from the northern side, it was much more of a civil war, with plenty of executions and that type of trite, the spaniards managed to beat back and reoccupy colombia for some time, and bolivar was a lot more into republicanism and wanted to kill all the spaniards basically. he was also into joining all of south/latin america into a blob, while from the south it was preferred to just have a bunch of smaller kingdoms that were linked/friendly to eachother but mantained self-rule

all of this political flip-flopping from the mainland obviously didn't help at all with establishing some sort of accord with the americans, nor to fight them back effectively

he's also been very effective at channeling a type of sentiment of basically being sick of the politicians and the ruling class in general. its kind of moved aside the old "ugh peronism vs foreigner capital kikes" which doesnt even make sense anymore into what he goes on about which is "normal people vs the political caste" (you know politicians, journalists, syndicalists, bureaucrats) 

i could go on about how weird of a character he actually is (because he is a very bizarre little man), and how awful awful dreadful his political partners are, and how if he somehow gets elected the government will be a disaster unless he manages to mend the schism with the other "right"wingers (bullrich, macri & co), which is what makes me uneasy about voting for him

first of all: he was the most voted candidate, which people DID predict might happen, but not only is he the most voted candidate, he's also the most voted PARTY. his 30% is higher than if you add up the yellow party(right)'s candidates or the blue (the peronists)'s candidates
secondly: he did amazingly in the interior of the country. kind of in the opposite way people predicted. some people (at least some time ago) went like "yeahhh nobody knows this guy outside of twitter and the capital retards. theres no way some nigger living in bumfuck patagonia will go and vote for this random libertarian guy" but they did. and its where he got his biggest winnings. in fact he LOST in the capital and greater buenos aires area (this is a place where the polls were closer to reality) 
thirdly: its VERY focused on his own persona. for whatever reason (possibly the fact that he's an awful politician and all the candidates he picks are awful incompetent retards). all the votes that he draws, do NOT transfer to the candidates he picks in other places for other positions. before these elections they were saying he might flop, because his candidates were doing awful in the provincial elections (never getting more than double digits, sometimes getting less than the meme socialist parties). evidently that didn't end up impacting the results though, but as i said if he wins, that will really damage him that he basically has nobody from his party 
fourthly: the government is absolutely in shambles. they might get THIRD place in the real elections, which means they wont even get to second round. this is potentially awful to everyone because theyre basically in power while the government has already fallen. they already devaluated like 20% on this monday and they basically haven't said anything. the president hasnt spoken, the economy minister IS the massa guy who is the candidate, and no wonder he got that few votes. something similar happened in the last primaries, where there was such a huge difference that everyone already knew the government was ending, so it all went to shit because people were scared of the new government that was gonna come. now its NOT so sure because its a 3 3rds election and you dont even know how the 2nd round will end up...but yeah things will be rought
